The Pett Observatory and the Ottawa weather
were tied more tightly than usual this weekend. On Saturday, Chris and
Louisa Teron installed our new air conditioner in the aptly-named Warm
Room. It turns out that we did a *great* insulation job when we built the
Observatory, so Warm Room temperature hit the high thirties during this
summer's hot spells. It was only going to get hotter once the second
Pentium 4 "space heater" was installed, so we needed better temperature
control. The air conditioner, donated by Mike James and Nancy Cole, solves
the problem nicely. On Sunday, Chris Teron dodged thundershowers to
apply a bold note of color to the doors and door trim. Meanwhile, Tim Cole
traced and repaired the weather station cabling, and we can take weather
readings at the Observatory again. One look at the weather screen shot
shows you why we're so pleased with the air conditioner! |
