September Constellation: Capricornus  ("The Goat-Fish")

Capricornus is only visible in early autumn from the northern hemisphere. It is a large dim Zodiac constellation seen along the horizon toward the south.

Capricornus, the Goat-Fish, is one of the most mysterious and ancient of all the constellations. It was known in Pre-Babylonian times as the god Ea. Ea was all knowing, the lord of the sacred eye. Each time he appeared in human form he wore a cloak with the tails of a fish.

Ea has appeared on earth four times to educate man in the art of civilization and saved mankind from a great flood.

Capricornus has been recognized as a goat since Babylonian and Chaldean times. Usually, it is depicted as a goat with a fish tail, which might relate to a story about the god Pan. Pan, fleeing a monster called Typhon, jumped into the river Nile. The part of him that was below water turned into a fish, while the rest of him above water, stayed as a goat.
