Comet Watch

Comet Linear is the first comet to be discovered by a satellite. It was found by the automatic minor planet search program LINEAR in New Mexico last September. It will be best to see in July only.
Comet Linear
Around July 19th, the comet appears to move position from night to night in the northern part of our sky. Watch it near Polaris the North Star and below the Big Dipper. It won't be as bright as Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997, so use binoculars. Comets are fuzzy looking with a wispy tail that points away from the Sun. Catch it before August when Comet Linear will disappear from our view.
