The Planets Jupiter and Saturn:

These two gas giants are at their best for viewing this fall. They can even be seen in city skies. They are easy to spot with your naked eye and a small telescope will show details like belts and zones on Jupiter, the rings around Saturn, and moons around both.

Click JupiterJupiter is the brightest of the two. Look for it in the east. While looking at Jupiter, know that it is a half a billion kilometers away from the Sun. Earth is 150 million kms away from the Sun. Jupiter takes twelve years to orbit the Sun.
or click SaturnSaturn is dimmer than Jupiter and appears slightly yellow. Saturn is twice as far away as Jupiter. In the sky, Saturn is 15 degrees east or left of Jupiter (or your hand width held out at arms length). The smallest of telescopes will show Saturn's rings. If you ever get a chance to look at Saturn in a telescope, take it, the view is amazing.
