October Constellation:
In greek mythology, Andromeda was the daughter of Cassiopeia. She was chained
to a rock as a sacrifice to Cetus the whale, who was terrorizing the coast
of Cassiopeia's homeland. Perseus rescued Andromeda by killing Medusa whose
face was so ugly, it turned everything that looked at it to stone.
He showed Cetus the head of Medusa and freed Andromeda.
From the blood of Medusa sprang Pegasus the winged horse. Pegasus was
able to fly up to Mount Olympus and see Zeus, so he was immortilized in
the sky forever.
Pegasus is easy to see in the sky if you think of it as a big square. The
constellation Andromeda is attached to Pegasus and reaches out under Cassiopeia.
In the fall they can be seen high in the southeast. Go to dark skies to
observe.
