July Constellations:

To the ancient greeks, Aquila was known as the thunderbird who brought back the lightning bolts which Zeus had thrown down to Earth.

The brightest star of this constellation is called Altair which is also one of the brightest stars of the Summer Triangle.

Look towards the south-east.

Three of the brightest stars in the summer sky are of three different constellations. The white star Vega is the brightest of the three. It is usually the first star you see after sunset. Look for it overhead and don't forget to say:

Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight.
