Pinhey's Point

Ottawa RASC star parties are often held at the Pinhey's Point historical site.

Pinhey’s Point is a heritage site and park owned and operated by the City of Ottawa museums department. It is normally closed to public access between the hours of 11 PM and 5 AM, so to use it for night time star parties, the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada - Ottawa Centre has agreed to respect certain conditions of use.

As visitors, we need your help to respect these conditions and ensure this heritage site remains available for these events.

  1. After normal park hours please restrict yourself to the area set up for the star party and the nearby support services such as washrooms. Do not disturb the buildings, ruins, or landscape in any way.
  2. Park only in the designated parking areas. The Fire and Emergency Access Route must be kept clear at all times.
  3. Keep the washrooms and site as clean as possible.
  4. In the rare event a star party continues late into the night, please be sure to leave the site by dawn.

Questions or concerns can be addressed to the city museum department.
