| The meeting was held at the home of Debra Ceravolo and started at 7:35pm. | |
| 1. Approval of Minutes of the Previous Meeting | Motion 2006-12 It was moved by Yves Demers and seconded by Chuck O'Dale that the minutes of the meeting held September 25, 2006 be approved, subject to the amendment that the library annual budget in section 5 should read $500. Carried (by virtual meeting held in the days following the meeting) |
| 2. GA2006 Update | Debra Ceravolo reported that she completed an analysis of the GA expenses, particularly since the expenses seemed higher than they should be. She discovered two large errors in the invoices from Carleton University amounting to $3,420. In addition, the Science department are still sending a $400 contribution toward expenses. This will result in a final cost of hosting the GA of $808, only 6 registrants short of break even. Some of these recoveries occurred after our September 30 year end so will not show until the next fiscal year. Council thanked Debra for her good detective work. |
| 3. 2006 Financial Statements | Stephen Nourse presented the financial statements for the year ended September 30, 2006. When the depreciation is removed from the expenses, and adjustment made for the recovery from Carleton that will come in the following financial year, the net cash revenue for the year would be $60.
While the number of members is down, the fee per member is up, and the overall membership revenue is up from last year. Despite the introduction of Astronotes PDF, printing and postage costs are up. This is partly due to the extra Astronotes printing for the GA. The following minor changes to the statements were discussed:

| 4. Treasurer Position | While Stephen agreed to stand for election as Treasurer for 2007, he would like the Centre to find a new Treasurer before the end of 2007. Stephen has now served for nine years and he no longer has as much time to devote to the position.
Council thanked Stephen for his tremendous service over the years and Chuck and Debra will start a search for a new Treasurer. Action: Chuck O'Dale, Debra Ceravolo |
| 5. Auditor | Stephen and the Auditor (David Potter) have not been able to complete the audit for the last few years. Stephen will endeavour to complete the audits prior to handing over his work to the new Treasurer. Stephen will also check with Potter that he is willing to be the auditor for 2007.

| 6. National Council Business | It was reported that Rob Dick is preparing an article for Astronotes with an update on National Council affairs.
A lot is happening at the National level and this should be discussed at the next Council meeting. |
| 7. Other Business | Items that should be discussed at a future Council meeting include the criteria for the Observer of the Year award and the role of Observing Coordinators. |
| 8. Adjournment | Motion 2006-14 At 10:20pm, it was moved by Chuck O'Dale that the meeting be adjourned. Carried Council thanked Debra for hosting this meeting and so many meetings during her term as President. |
