Historical Figures in Astronomy by: Carmen Rush |
Allie Vibert Douglas She was a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society in Britain and a president of the RASC. Joseph Louis Lagrange Libration of the Moon, stability of the solar system, moons of Jupiter and "mecanique analytique". Optics in the 19th Century Jesse Ramsden, Alvan Clark, Josef von Fraunhofer and Robert Bunsen
Carmen Rush has been teaching high school mathematics for 21 years in Kanata, Ontario. Carmen is also an engaged amateur astronomer with a passion for science history and biographies. For several years, Carmen has been giving talks at the Ottawa RASC Center's monthly meetings on historical figures who marked the field of astronomy. It's been a while since I started bugging Carmen to share her passion via the Internet and, to my great pleasure, she finally relented. I am sure the ottawa-rasc.ca visitors will be as entertained by Carmen's astronomy-related historical insights as the people attending our monthly meetings are.
